KARLY BELL comes from an extremely musical
family, her parents and grandparents (on both sides) being accomplished jazz
musicians. It was never a question IF she would play an instrument, but
WHAT instrument she would choose and at 10 years old, she decided to play the
violin.
In her early years, Karly did very well in competitions, and as a high school
student, she often earned extra cash playing for weddings.
After high school, the violin took a backseat to school and her social life,
although she did have a short stint in an all-girl folk band. Then, after
a 6-year hiatus, she picked up her instrument and started playing again.
She had a 2-year stint with the CBC orchestra.
Karly started playing the fiddle with Skweez the Weezle in July 2005. Playing
celtic music is a new thing for Karly. And, although she finds that
"fiddling" is much harder than she ever thought it would be, she truly enjoys
that style of music.
When she isn't playing the fiddle (or violin), Karly works as a hairstylist and
a bartender, and is a mom to 2 incredible mixed breed dogs. |
